USLGE members match international producers with sources in the United States that offer genetics with superior credentials. The combined resources of USLGE members include most major species and breeds — resources that are unmatched by any other single organization.
USLGE members include a broad base of U.S. livestock organizations (dairy, beef, swine, horse, goat, and sheep) as well as embryo and semen industries, the livestock export sector, and State Departments of Agriculture.
USLGE is excited to announce that it will be receiving $4,752,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service (USDA-FAS) in the first round of 5 tranches of Regional Agricultural Promotion Program (RAPP) funding. Of the total RAPP funds allocated to USLGE, $1,116,000 will be spent specifically on projects for marketing U.S. livestock genetics in Africa.
“I would like to express USLGE’s appreciation to USDA-FAS, especially the Office of Global Programs, for allocating this RAPP funding to us,” says Dr. Martin Sieber, President and CEO of USLGE. “It is an important addition to our regular FAS program funding.”
U.S. genetics can play a crucial role in enhancing livestock herd development and promoting sustainable agricultural practices globally. USLGE’s efforts in RAPP emphasized regions will contribute to improved animal breeding, reduced environmental impact, and increased productivity.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced today that USDA is allocating $300 million to 66 U.S. organizations, under the new Regional Agricultural Promotion Program (RAPP), to build demand for American food and farm exports in high-potential markets around the globe. RAPP was launched in October 2023 with $1.2 billion in Commodity Credit Corporation funding authorized to help U.S. exporters expand their customer base beyond traditional and established markets, focusing on regions such as Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and South and Southeast Asia, where consumer demand and purchasing power are growing. The initial round of RAPP funding will help recipient organizations carry out hundreds of projects encompassing a wide variety of products and markets.
